VATICAN CITY-(IGNA) Pope John Paul II said recently that the shame people feel about their sexual organs helps them maintain holiness and honor.

Speaking in his weekly general audience and citing St. Paul's letter to the Corinthians, the Pope said that shame about the body stems from the Original Sin of Adam and Eve and is part of God's plan for salvation.

"The parts of the body...we think less honorable we invest with the greatest honor," the Pope said, quoting St. Paul.

The Pope went on to say that the parts in question are not objectively less honorable or presentable in themselves. They are such only on account of that sense of shame that urges us to surround our body with honor-to control it in holiness and honor.

Shame thus restores "harmony by purity of heart," His Holiness concluded.

Locating literature

nevie

By: P.C.

For those of us who are too broke to buy, there's the main library. However, many of us are unfamiliar as to how to use the library system; and don't want to go through the hassle (or embarassment), of asking for help. No problem! Just follow these simple directions:

1. Find the card cacalogue marked subject all books must be filed under "Homosexuality," or "Lesbianism."

2. Every title must have a call number, usually printed on the left side of the card. A common Dewey number for Gay material, is: 301. 425, a common L.C. (library of congress), number is: HQ 76.2.

3. Find out where the shelf areas are and go it alone.

4. Ignore call numbers marked "R" means restricted/reference, these materials must remain in the library, and cannot be checked out.

If your local library has an inadiquate selection, simple interloan. Inter library loan is easy if you follow these basic steps: 1. Ask for the most recent edition of Guide Books In Print.

2. Take both volumes to a nearby table and look up "homosexuality" and or "lesbianism."

3. Make your selection, keeping

in mind that there will be a nomi-

nal fee for this service.

4. Ask to speak to the person in charge of interlibrary loans (who will take care of all the paper work).

5. Wait several weeks for the

books to arrive from a neighbouring library.

However, there is one hitch, you can't ask for a new title that is less than a year old.

The system however accommodates only book titles. Access to other types of gay information requires more sophisticated research techniques. What is available, is both entertaining and educational for the most part and should not be ignored. Gay liberation entails liberation of the mind, our minds cannot be set free without access to gay literature.

there is no pretending.

But when I reach out to grasp for that hand a voice says, I'm sorry,

I can't be your friend.

I cry out at night and dread each new day, the loneliness I fight as it continues to stay.

Poetry

By Dr. L. Vincey

To Bradd S.

In the midst of starry, neon lights as I dance to the never-ending

song,

I think I see you watching sometimes:

but, when the song's over I'm alone and you're never around.

I go looking for you at all

the downtown places you go to, but, you're never there. Where are you, Bradd? What's happened to us?

With birds like tender babies in

your hands,

and adults like overgrown child-

ren to you;

With all of your lite for a school, and the whole world for a playground;

I need you with me.

You say I don't even know you so how can I love you? Bradd I know you.

and love all there is to know about you.

I love you.....

Lady Z puts on the Ritz

By GORDON HATHAWAY

The 620 Club was the site of

Lady Z's presentation of Putting

on the Ritz. The show was

directed, choreographed and costumed by Jim Scott.

Shamu and Orca joined Lady Z as the show's two other "female" entertainers. Jon, Scott and Jim served as the show's male leads.

In addition to the show's thirteen production numbers, the cast presented Mary Awards to members of Cleveland's gay community. Awards were presented for the following ten categories: Trashiest Queen, Bath House Queen, Mr. Stud, Chicken Queen, Ms. Elegance. Leather

Queen, The Johnnie Queens, Book Store Queen, Ms. Edge water and The Mary Award itself.

Lady Z explained that the Mary Award was given to the person who did not fit into any of the above categories or perhaps fit into more than one of the above categories. This year's recipient was Totie of the Vaults. The Mary Award consisted of a high heel shoe, encrusted with gold glitter, mounted on a wooden plaque. Try to explain that one to your mother when she sees it hanging. on the wall.

The show opened with "New York, New York" performed by Jim, Jon and Scott, dressed in

sailor outfits. The outfits worn by Lady Z, Shamu and Orca were fabulous and adorned with sequins and feathers. A tribute was paid to Joe and Estelle's courting days when Lady Z, Jon and Jim performed "The Continental." Orca's rendition of "Nobody Makes a Pass at Me" saw her dressed in a super-mini dress and sneaker's and was a favorite of the crowd as was Shamu's rendition of "Heaven Must Have Sent You."

During Lady Z's closing remarks, she announced to the crowd that this would definitely be her last show.
